Brittney Bouchard is not the girl next door. The self-proclaimed unicorn constantly finds herself in bizarre situations living her life in Hollywierd California, although originally from a small town in central Florida called Apopka. This singer/songwriter takes it in stride. “Weird things inspire me,” says Brittney. “I believe in fairy tales, I believe in taking risks and challenging yourself, and I think that’s why I love songwriting so much.”

It’s no wonder then that Bouchard has been making a name for herself in the songwriting community in Los Angeles. While she is currently focusing on her own upcoming release, she is also writing for other artists and TV projects. “I am always looking for creative outlets, so I love getting to work on other people’s music too. It’s a chance to explore other sides of me.”

You have a new song out I Will Be Yours! What was your inspiration behind this hauntingly beautiful song?

I really wanted to channel the idea and the feeling of being a free spirit, of taking chances and trying things even if you feel like you’re on the edge of falling apart. It’s the idea of deciding to chase your dreams instead of chasing another person. Of being brave enough to follow your dream, even when it makes everything else seem scary or uncertain.

As an artist, what’s your source of motivation that helps you push through all the daily challenges?

I heard something a while back that really impacted my life; it was “What would you do if money was no object?” It really got to me. So sometimes when things are hard or challenging, which happens a lot in the life of an artist, I just remember that I got into this because I freaking love music and I couldn’t stop if I wanted to.

What helps you keep grounded and allows you to channel your creative energy?

My friends keep me grounded. I love hiking and doing yoga. It’s really difficult for me because I’m super ADD, but the more I make myself do it, the more I realize how much I need it. I only started about a year ago, and I love it. Always focusing on finding that balance and calmness so that the creative energy flows when I’m ready for it, or even when I’m not.

You’re in amazing shape! What’s your workout regimen like?

Well thank you! Mostly yoga, sometimes cardio or weight lifting, and a lot of chasing after my gigantic Bernese Mountain dog puppy Bailey. I try to maintain a rather clean diet, fresh fruits and vegetables and lean meats. Sometimes I’m just eating a salad because I know I’m supposed to lol, I believe that knowledge is power and the more you know about nutrition the more likely you are to stick to it. Oh and cheat days, I make sure I get plenty of cheat days, because a pink ice-cream cone sparks my creativity once in a while ha!

What are the three food items that you can never live without?!

Sushi! Chipotle and …. well COFFEE!!!
