You have a huge following on Instagram! What inspired you to have these beautiful and artistic yoga pictures of you taken?
Instagram is such a great way to connect with other yogis and stay in touch with the yoga community. I have met so many new friends from all over the U.S and outside of the U.S. from IG. I wanted my Instagram page to showcase the beauty of yoga, and also (now with 15 sec videos) show progression. Using Instagram to teach different yoga transitions. My yoga practice is very diverse. I am very flexible, and I have a love for handstands and inversions, I wanted my page to express that while being beautifully photographed as well.
What is the hardest yoga pose you have done and how long did it take you to master it?
The hardest pose for me was pressing to handstand, without using momentum, just lifting “floating” your body up. It is now a part of my daily practice, and comes with ease; however I worked very hard for it. I have a naturally thin frame, so any pose requiring strength comes harder to me. I practiced this for 1 1/2 years before mastering the pike press, and I still make sure to do it every day. I’m sure some of the more flexible poses seem more impressive, but I am most proud of my press.
What advice would you give to someone who has not tried yoga yet and thinks that it may be too boring?
Yoga is for everyone. I mean that whole heartedly. If you find yourself in a class that you are not connecting with, try a new style, or a new teacher. Yoga is so popular now with so many different styles and levels, there is something for everyone.
What inspired you to start your journey into yoga and fitness?
I started my journey into yoga looking for a more health focused lifestyle. I took my first class at 25 and fell in love from the start. The physical aspect of yoga is such a small part of the practice. Yoga teaches you to listen to your body and cultivates the mind body connection. For me it is not a workout, it is my way of life.
I hear you love the TV show Game of Thrones! Which character do you most relate to?
I love Game of Thrones, and I would have to say Khaleesi is my favorite!
